In this Curious Cat review we’re going to talk about the paid survey app, not the social media site.

Some call the Curious Cat app a fast way to make some extra cash, while others say it’s a scam with a nasty habit of blocking accounts without rhyme or reason. 

You’re going to get an inside look of the app so you’ll know what to expect before signing up yourself.

Is it legit? Worth signing up for?

Curious Cat is a UK-based paid survey app which rewards you with cash for sharing your opinion on products and services. There is a social media website with the same name, but they are totally unrelated.

The Curious Cat we will be talking about in this review is the paid survey app, after all our attention is on finding legit ways to make money online.

Curious Cat is known to be an easy to use survey app with a low cash out threshold. 100 points are equivalent to £1. Each survey rewards between 20-200 points and on average it takes around 2 minutes to complete.

Although it’s available in 92 countries, the number of surveys available will depend on where you are located. A specific survey has a target audience, so you’ll only get to answer those applicable to you.

What Is Curious Cat?

Curious Cat is an app where you can earn cash in exchange for sharing your feedback on products and services. It is owned by UK-based On Device Research Company, was released in August 2019 and has been downloaded on 500,000+ gadgets. 

However, the website states it got its start back in 2017 when an “elite group of cat-loving mavericks” as they call themselves decided to build the app.

My guess is, they started planning about the app in 2017 and were finally able to release it in 2019. Or maybe the 2019 version was an upgraded one. 

But here’s another inconsistency:

I’ve said earlier that it already has 500,000 app downloads, this is what it says in the About this app section in Google Play. But the About Us section of the website says a colossal 35 million people have already used it. 

So, I concocted a little theory on how I can explain the inconsistency; either there was an earlier version of the app and the number of downloads is not reflected in the updated version OR it was previously available on the website and most of the people back then did the surveys there.

This is just my assumption though. I hope On Device Research clears this confusion up, so they won’t be ruled out as a scam. 

Why?

Because a lot of scams are rehashed a couple of times so the scammer couldn’t keep track of the details about the repackaged scheme.

Take Cashgem for example, one portion of the website says it was made in 2010 but another part says it’s 2015. 

Anyway, the inconsistent details alone can’t really tell if they’re a scam or not, but it’s still one factor to be wary about.

I don’t want to be off-putting about Curious Cat because my goal is to avoid a one-sided review. So, here’s what I found to be good about Curious Cat: the app received a fairly good rating in both Google Play and the App Store. 

As you can see in the App Store screenshot there’s mixed opinion about the app. Some like it, some don’t.

A little further into this review I’ll show why some people think it’s a scam and why others think it’s not. 

How To Get Started With Curious Cat 

To get started, download the app into your device. It’s available for both android and iOS users. The About This App section states you can use it if you’re at least 16 years old. However, since they only reward in PayPal, you have to be at least 18 years old.

Why?

PayPal only allows those 18 and up to make an account. If your age qualifies you to make a PayPal account, you can click this link to make one. 

Once the app is downloaded, you can proceed to sign up. It’s a bit different on how you sign up with most paid surveys.

With Curious Cat, you’ll only initially provide the country where you live and your phone number. They’ll immediately message you a verification code through the phone number you provided. 

There’s no log out option in the app so you’re constantly logged in except if you uninstall it. 

Here’s a bit of a kicker I experienced while signing up:

After giving your phone number and location, you’ll get to a page where there are 4 tick boxes you need to check. I tried checking just one to see if I can proceed, sadly they won’t allow me to. 

I was hesitant to check the 3 other tick boxes because it basically gives them permission to use 3^rd party cookies, collect, and share device identifiers. In other words, I’ll give them a green light to track me.

Even though I didn’t give my exact address, they can still track me using the device’s location services. Who knows what other personal information they will use and share! Worse comes to worst, you’ll risk getting your identity stolen because of it. 

I’m not saying they will but just think of the possibilities when your personal information gets into the wrong hands.

How To Make Money With Curious Cat

To make money with Curious Cat you have to take surveys. The app dashboard will show you all available surveys you can take but once you click on them you will be taken to an online survey page instead of doing the surveys in the app itself. 

The surveys are divided into four sub-categories:

• Opinion Polls
• Short Surveys
• Questionnaires
• Consumer Dairy Studies

Sometimes you'll be asked to download an app and give your opinion on it.

After taking surveys, Curious Cat will have to validate it, when it passes, points will be rewarded and reflected in your account. 

The very first survey you will find in the app is a profiling survey. This will help them match you with surveys that can apply to you. 

After this first survey, other surveys you qualify as a panellist for will appear on the dashboard. There are also times when surveys don’t indicate any points you can get if you take it. This is because they will reward you with an Amazon gift card instead. 

The Amazon gift card is not a redemption option, it’s just designated to specific surveys as the reward.

How Do You Get Paid On Curious Cat?

Curious Cat only has a cash redemption option through PayPal. It is unlike other surveys where you can choose to redeem your points for gift cards instead of cash. Curious Cat has a very low cash out threshold, for just 100 points, you can get £1. 

This means it’s fairly easy to cash out from this app especially because the points you can get from a survey range from 20-200 points. If you get fortunate enough, you’ll get £2 for taking just one survey. 

To add your PayPal ID, just click the 3 identical horizontal lines on the upper left-hand side of the screen and choose settings. Under your phone number, you can type in your PayPal ID. When you have enough points, you can then cash it out to your PayPal account.

Personally, I’d prefer to get paid in cash so I can do or buy whatever I want with what I earn from it.

How Much Can You Make With Curious Cat?

How much you can earn will depend on how many tasks are available on any given day. Sometimes you get 1 survey per day, sometimes more. If you get a 1 survey worth 40 points every day, you’ll make at least £2 per week. 

I checked my Curious Cat app just now and I got 1 survey worth 28 points available. More populated countries like the US, UK, and Canada get more surveys available. So, you can’t really say for a certainty how much you can make with Curious Cat.

£2 per week?! It won’t be enough to be your monthly source of income. At best, it's a decent side hustle.

Curious Cat provides support in 2 ways. They have a FAQ section and a contact form. Both support modes can be accessed on the website and in the app.

Is Curious Cat A Scam?

Curious Cat is not a scam. Although there are a few alarm bells, these are not complete deal-breakers. It has a research company running it and a number of users shared they were paid in exchange for doing tasks. 

Still, there are some who complain that Curious Cat lock accounts for no good reason. To make sure that doesn’t happen to you, you might want to familiarize yourself with the Terms and Conditions. 

Curious Cat Review: Final Say

Curious Cat is a decent survey app with a low minimum cash out threshold. Another thing I like is it pays cash. However, even on its best days, you’ll make just a few extra bucks a month.
