Are You A Newbie? Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp Might Not Be For You

The opportunities of earning money online are truly enormous and making money by promoting Wealthy Affiliate is a great way to do it.

Ian Pribyl, owner of StoppingScams.com wrote a brilliant article here talking about why Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp might not be for everyone… and I have to say I agree.

Allow me to explain:

Wealthy Affiliate teaches it's members to create affiliate websites around an interest or area of expertise. The problem is when you're first starting out, thinking of profitable and untapped website niche ideas can be difficult, and this is why lots of Wealthy Affiliate members revert to the making money online niche as a default.

At the time of writing this article, 10,500 people have already gone through the Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp training – that's a lot of people cramming into a small niche space. This is on top of the fact the affiliate marketing/make money online niche is already extremely saturated.

My advice?

If you're a brand new beginner, don't make your first website about making money online. I only started the Make Money Online Blog after I had already experienced success in a much less competitive niche and I'd already learned how to build an email subscription list, create high quality content consistently and turn casual readers into committed buyers.

Here's the truth pill:

Starting in the make money online space with your first website is very, very difficult. It'll take anywhere form 9 months to 12 months until you start seeing any results… that's long upward climb, unless you know how to stand out.

If you're brand new to Wealthy Affiliate, starting by going through the Online Certification Course and learn how to build a niche Amazon affiliate website where you can start to see results in weeks not months. That way you won't get disheartened and quit before experiencing your breakthrough.

I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to put you off but you should at least know what you're getting into before you start. If you've got any questions or any ideas you want to bounce of me, please your comments below 🙂

Both Wealthy Affiliate and Jaaxy give you my favourite kind of commissions – monthly and recurring 🙂

Although this is covered in the Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp training, let me give you a quick overview of the commission rates assuming you're a Wealthy Affiliate premium member.

For each and every referral who adds a profile image and writes a user description, you earn 2 credits ($1 in value)

When a Starter member upgrades to Premium you get 50% commissions. As the Wealthy Affiliate discounts the first month's Premium if upgrade within 10 days, your commission is $9, then $22.50 every month after that.

On average, 1 out of 8 referrals will upgrade to Premium and the average length of membership is 6 months.

I love your honesty and all the resources, (links, video, and articles) you have provided for people to be able to do their own research. 2. This is an excellent article about the Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp and you hit all the main points. I’ve actually started the Affiliate Bootcamp, but haven’t finished it. I kind of hit a brick wall, because I didn’t really have reviews to post on my site for it, but I think I may have a way around that now and will soon start back up at promoting WA again. I’ve also been focusing more on my first website since I’ve been earning some money with that one.

I do want to earn recurring income though from Wealthy Affiliate as that has been one of my big goals since I started WA about 3 years ago. Now that my first site is earning some income, I plan to start back up on my second website and hopefully go through the rest of Affiliate Bootcamp.

    • Thanks for sharing Brian.

As I say, I think you’ be better off focusing on your first niche website first – this is obviously a topic you know a lot about and it’s likely to be far less competitive than the make money online niche that’s for sure.

Honesly, my first website in church leadership was so easy to rank, I made my first comission in 2 weeks, replaced my income by the 12 month mark…. then I started this site to help beginners at affiliate marketing do the same, but I still even now notice a big difference between the two niches – it’s like night and day.

If I were you I’d concentrate on building your first site for now, maybe add a post a week to your make money niche site so it’s rolling in the background, but concentrate your efforts on hitting your first $1,000 in your niche

      Wishing you every success!

  3. Very interesting take on the idea that over 10k people have attended the affiliate bootcamp training. Considering that this is only taking into consideration what has happened within Wealthy Affiliate, it’s easy to see how saturated the niche could potentially be.

I will say, however, there is some very good stuff in that training. I’ve gained a lot by attending that training, even outside of the ‘money making’ niche. Things like site design, content writing, keyword research, etc. So – I personally would recommend the training even if you’re not intending to go into the money making niche. Just my humble opinion.

You make a very good point – all of the principles, methods and strategies they teach could be applied to ANY website in ANY niche.

      Thanks for sharing.

  4. This is a good heads up for beginners in online marketing and website building. Im still in the early stages of my first website and i really have not wrapped my head around email markenting as yet. I have learnt a lot in my six months here. One of the things I have learnt is how easy it is to get distracted from the basics that you need to master before you can become successful, especially when you get stuck on a particular problem. I avoided promoting WA as a new member because i felt I should at least learn something tangible about the company before I could credibly recommend it to someone else.

    • I definitely agree Everton, as I say I don’t recommend promoting Wealthy Affiliate if you’re new to affiliate marketing. That’s the reason I never started this blog until I had some success behind me, otherwise it would have been the case of the blind leading the blind!

Start with the Online Certification Course and build your first niche website. By all means, go through the Wealthy Affiliate Bootcamp training and take from it what you can and apply it to your niche website.

  5. Hi Simon, I do agree with you that Bootcamp is not suitable for newbies. I started my own niche site and I’m learning a lot. I think I will focus on my first website until it is generating income consistently. I learn all of this from certification.

Perhaps I will shift my focus on the second niche and start to promote Wealthy Affiliate. Thanks for letting me aware about this.

Take care and all the best in your online journey.

    • Hey Maxx,

Glad you’re enjoying the Wealthy Affiliate training and getting a lot from it. Yes it’s best not to spread yourself too thin especially in the beginning, but focus on one niche un til it’s profitable then you can start outsourcing certain tasks and move onto the next one.

It sounds like you’re on the right track, let me know if I can help in any way. To your online success!

  6. Hi, Simon! I have to agree with the premise that you stated in your article: That is being a “newbie” and relatively inexperienced member at Wealthy Affiliate, one should not consider promoting the company as a way to earn money and it be his/her first venture at owning an online business.

This idea was even discussed recently in the community with the thought being that a new member, the individual really knows next to nothing about Wealthy Affiliate itself. Furthermore if the person remains at the “free” membership level, how in the world could he promote the company in an online business when he/she would ONLY be able to go through Level 1 of the bootcamp training, (missing out on Levels 2 – 7) and that would be all he/she had access to?

Yes, a person who has upgraded to the premium membership level could earn a lot of money promoting Wealthy Affiliate. But as you stated it takes time and really some prior experience creating money for him/herself marketing products in another niche – which is what I did personally.

The training in the bootcamp is there, and for one I’m excited that within a few months the owners of WA will be upgrading the training modules even more.

Making money online is not easy, and too many people believe incorrectly in the get-rich-quick schemes that still can be found online in fraud programs. Instead WA teaches the individual that it is more of a marathon and not a sprint. Promoting the company with such competition coming from other members is even harder with the ability to achieve monetary success.

The excellent manner in which you presented the entirety of the bootcamp training at WA does make it clear that it CAN be done.

    • Thanks Jeff, you make a very good point. I think the fact you can make money promoting Wealthy Affiliate as a free member is good if you’re just starting out or if you’ve already got an existing internet marketing website with an email list you can make recommendations to.

But you’re right, as soon as you’ve got two Premium referrals, you’re better off going to Premim and doubling your commissions – your membership pays for itself. Not to mention you then get full access to the training, keyword tools and up to 50 sites hosted on the SiteRubix website builder platform.
