The Wealthy Affiliate VS Affilorama Review

wealthy affiliate vs affilorama review

Which is better, Wealthy Affiliate or Affilorama? There's only one way to find out.

It's time we put these two affiliate marketing giants to the test and let them go at it head to head in this Wealthy Affiliate vs. Affilorama review.

I've spent the last 3 years building a blogging portfolio that earns me $6,000+ a month and now I show others how to do the same.

I’ve been a Premium member of both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama and I'm often asked: “What is the best affiliate marketing training course for beginners?

On the surface, they both look the same. They both teach beginners how to get started building a full-time income for yourself through the wonderful world of online business.

But dig a little deeper and you'll see the training, tools and support they offer are vastly different. So let's put them both in the ring and see who's left standing by the final round.

Which is better – Wealthy Affiliate or Affilorama?

First off, let’s take a look at what's available to members, here’s a quick comparison of what they offer.

Quick overview:

Both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama teach you how to become a successful affiliate marketer. On a basic level, what they teach are real tried and tested methods of building an online income stream that are proven to work.

Neither are scams.

Affilorama is better than 90% of the affiliate marketing programs out there but it feels like it's best days are behind them…

The site is empty, there's no one there. The training is confusing and out of date and the owner is too busy with his other products to invest the time and energy into making Affilorama all it could be. It's glory days are behind it.

There might be some value in watching the free videos you get with their Starter Membership and you might want to pay just $1 for the first month's Premium but don't pay for anything else and you'll definitely want to avoid the long list of ridiculous upsells.

In my opinion, Wealthy Affiliate is the best option, even though it's very inexpensive compared to Affilorama, by quite a margin.

Both the Starter and Premium membership options offer great value. The training, website builders and state-of-the-art hosting are worth more than the membership alone.

I believe anyone who takes massive action on the Wealthy Affiliate will be successful. You have all of the tools and resources you need under one roof and access to the help and support you need as you start your new business venture.

Wealthy Affiliate are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible, relentlessly improving the service they offer and they have yet to reach their peak. I've been a Premium Member for 3 years now and that's got to say something.

My advice? Become a Wealthy Affiliate Starter member, test drive the system for free and see for yourself how they can help you achieve your online income goals.

Round 1: The founders

wealthy affiliate vs affilorama founders and owners

One of the first things I look at when deciding whether or not to join a program is the track record and credibility of the owners.

So let's look at the men who created and spearhead both of these programs.

Successful millionaire entrepreneurs in their own right, it's worth keeping in mind that both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama have been around for more than ten years.

In an industry littered full of shady scams that don't last longer than a year, this is definitely a good sign.

Affilorama
who is mark ling

In the blue corner we have Affilorama founder Mark Ling. He's an experienced New Zealand-based affiliate marketer who has been running profitable online businesses since 1999.

He is a well-known internet marketer and an international speaker who is respected in his field.

He launched Affilorama in 2006 and grow it to over 300,000 members and leads a team of 29 staff members.

Wealthy Affiliate
Kyle founder of Wealthy Affiliate

In the red corner we have Wealthy Affiliate co-founders Kyle Loudin and Carson Lim. Based in Victoria, Canada, they launched Wealthy Affiliate in 2005 and have grown it to over 800,000 members.

They are also the creators and owners of Jaaxy.com, the keyword research industry's leading keyword research tool.

Kyle delivers all of the in-depth video tutorials and training courses and is a very active within the Wealthy Affiliate community.

Carson, with a background in computer science, primarily works behind the scenes tweaking the Wealthy Affiliate engine to improve and redefine user experience.

Round 2: Free Trials and Premium Prices

wealthy affiliate vs affilorama free trials and premium membership costs and prices

Both membership sites offer free Starter memberships with the option to upgrade to a Premium membership. Affilorama also has additional upsells.

So let's take a look at the pros and cons of both programs and see if they're really worth the price tag they're asking for.

Affiliorama

Free Starter membership: $0 for as long as you like.

Premium membership: $1 for the first month, then $67 a month

1st Upsell: AffiloBlueprint at $197

2nd Upsell: AffiloJetpack at $997

Affilorama free starter membership

The Affilorama starter account gets you 93 training videos with downloadable scripts, all presented in bullet form making them easy to understand.

The training is not very organised (discussed more below) and some of the training is outdated. But hey, it's free and there's some good stuff in there. Beginners on a shoestring budget might be able to gleam some value from them.

There's also a forum where you can ask questions. Unfortunately it doesn't seem very active and you can expect to wait 3 days for a reply. You might find your question already answered in older forum posts so you could still find it helpful.

affilorama free training
Affilorama Premium membership

I decided to take Affilorama up on their offer of the first month's Premium for $1 to get full access – what a let-down!

Here's what you get:

  • 19 training videos (50% of them have nothing to do with affiliate marketing)
  • Limited web hosting for up to 15 domains
  • 30 private license rights articles per month so you can copy or change them slightly and put them on your website (NEVER do this!)

Remember members pay $68 a month for this ($816 a year/$2.23 a day). That's $19 a month more than Wealthy Affiliate. Honestly I was expecting a lot more. Okay so I paid $1 but still, I would be billed $68 monthly for a few videos I really don't think deserve a premium price tag.

Upsells within upsells…

This is where Affilorama starts to get a little more complicated so stick with me. Inside the member's area you'll see banners promoting AffiloBlueprint ($197) and AffiloJetpack ($997).

If you add up the costs of all these upsells, combined with your monthyl Premium subscription, you’ll have to spend over $2,000 in your first year for full access…!

AffiloBlueprint

It's a ‘step by step video course teaching newbies how to become successful internet marketers.‘ It's funny that, I thought that's what the Premium membership was for?

AffiloJetpack

AffiloJetpack offers done-for-you websites that come with content already written and emails you can use in your email marketing compaigns. For $997 you get 3 ebooks, 12 emails series and 20 publically available articles that you can spin.

Though the idea of having a ‘website-business-in-a-box' might sound tempting, you should avoid it. Not only is it ridiculously expensive, but with everyone buying the same articles, it has no unique value. In fact, you're killing any chance you have of ranking on Google, getting traffic or making sales.

Google has updated its algorithms since this training was put together and are now much better at detecting duplicate content. Simple copying and pasting the same articles everyone else is using will have your website blacklisted as using duplicate content, leaving you the owner of a worthless website and $997 worse off.

wealthy affiliate and affilorama differences

I have a problem with upsells. I understand why companies do it – to squeeze as much money out of you as possible, but it's not an honest way to run a business.

It's like dangling a carrot in front of someone and saying “If you just take one more step (and pay a little more) then you can really learn how to build an online business.”

Why can't they just include everything within their Premium membership? Perhaps it would help to justify their high prices. Be transparent, be open and be honest. I might not even mind so much if the quality of Affilorama’s training courses matched their premium prices, but they don't.

[alert-note] “The truth is that paying $997 for this product is just too damn much. This product is not even worth that price due to the fact that you can find all of the information you will on a random Google search for free.

Once inside the member's area you'll have instant access to:

  • Two free websites (including free hosting and free domains) that you can use to apply what you're learning through the courses.

Wealthy Affiliate Premium membership

I joined Wealthy Affiliate back in 2014 as a free Starter member (like most people do) and because I was really serious about building an income for myself online, I readily applied myself to the training and started building my first website.

Only 2 or 3 days later I decided to upgrade to a Premium membership and I've been a Premium member ever since.

You can read more about what's happened since then here – My Experience of Wealthy Affiliate 3 Years On: Successes & Failures, Challenges & Set-Backs

With the Premium Membership you have the option of paying monthly or yearly. Yearly works out a lot cheaper, (36% cheaper) because they haven't raised the yearly price since Wealthy Affiliate first launched back in 2005.

At $49 a month, it works out at $1.62 per day. The yearly option is $359 and works out at $0.98 per day. That's a phenomenal price.

As well as everything you get as a free member, the Premium Membership includes:

  • Access to 11 more levels of top-notch training
  • Up to 50 websites hosted with their state of the art website platform including daily back ups and health checks.
  • Easy to use website builders with over 2,000 free themes to choose from.
  • Expert tech support – If you ever have a query about your website, you can raise a ticket. They have always replied to me with an great answer within minutes. (Because my websites are my businesses, this is really important)
  • Private messaging – you can message the owners Kyle and Carson directly or network with the thousands of experienced affiliate marketers.

What I really like about Wealthy Affiliate Premium is that everything you need is already included. Wealthy Affiliate not only teaches you how to, but they put the tools you need in your hand so you can actually do it.

You can register domains, host your websites, search for keywords, get feedback on your sites, get one on one mentoring from Kyle and Carson and hundreds of other mentors, all in one place. No extra costs or hidden fees. And what they teach actually works.

As I say, I've been a Premium member for 3 years now and that should tell you something! I earn $6,000 a month as a direct result of applying what I was taught at Wealthy Affiliate. Do you think I begrudge paying $0.98 a day? Not a chance! 🙂

Round 3: Quality of training

wealthy affiliate vs affilorama training

Both Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama teach the same online business model – you make money with affiliate marketing through building and growing niche websites and learning how to generate traffic and sales.

It's just they approach it in two very different ways. Let's compare and contrast the two in the training head-to-head.

Affilorama

I'm not quite sure what to say about Affilorama's training…

I mean, the videos are clear and cover the basics so they're suitable for beginners which is good. But I just can't help feel like it's all been thrown together in a “Oh this is a good article, add it to the Affilorama page could you?” kind of way.

I'm not even joking, there's more value in my free 10 day make money blogging email course than there is in the Affiliarama Premium membership and it only took me a couple of days to put it together.

It's got me thinking though, maybe I could copy and paste my top 10 most popular blog posts onto a new page and start selling it as an online course. Interesting idea… I'm joking of course! But I think this is exactly what they did with Affilorama.

Here are the different topics covered within the training:

  • what do you learn at AffiloramaDiscover Affiliate Marketing – 9 video lessons
  • Market Research for Affiliate Marketers – 8 video lessons
  • Content Creation – 9 video lessons
  • Site Building – 19 video lessons
  • Marketing ideas – 22 video lessons
  • SEO (search engine optimisation) 11 video lessons
  • PPC (pay per click advertising) 12 video lessons
  • Affiliate Outsourcing – 3 video lessons

As a result of the ‘throw it all together and see how it sticks' mentality, the final result you end up is a bit hit and miss. The training has no beginning and no end, you just pick lessons at random.

The training contradicts itself. I'll give you an example. One of the lessons under SEO says this:

“Use high-quality, original content. High-quality content will keep visitors on your website for longer. Several search engines (notably Google) pay attention to this, and your page earns kudos for being so evidently interesting.”

And then under the Content Creation tab there's this lesson called ‘Easy ways to get content for your site' which says this:

With content from article directories you're free to post it on your site, as long as you don't edit the content at all; this includes keeping the author's “bio box” and any links in the content intact.

They've gone from stressing the importance of having high-quality, original content to copying and pasting from article directories in one fell swoop!

On top of that a lot of the training is just painfully out of date. I'm talking 10 years out of date. As you pick lessons to go through you've got to dodge the many warning signs like this one.

Instead of simply deleting an old lesson or even updating it ever so slightly, apparantely it's just a lot easier for one of the 29 staff members to paste this onto the header.

affilorama what do they teach
Wealthy Affiliate

In sharp contrast, I loved the Wealthy Affiliate training courses. I found them easy to understand and because I was a complete beginner, I really liked the systematic, step by step way the course was put together. There's a written tutoral and a walkthrough video from Kyle in each lesson.

wealthy affiliate process for making money online

The course is also really interactive too with a question and answer sections. You'll often see Kyle getting involved in discussions and helping newbies get set up or giving feedback on an idea too.

Each lesson builds on the previous lesson and you really feel like you're making progress. Probably because you actually are!

Each lesson comes with actionable tasks that you need to complete before moving on to the next. I think this was my favourite thing about this training, because it was practical and meant you were building something as you went through the course.

The Online Certification Course has 5 levels, each level containing 10 superb and well thought-through lessons:

what do you learn at wealthy affiliate

Most importantly, the training is updated regularly, sometimes even daily. There's no mention of dodgy blacklink building strategies or article spinning or any other nonsense from ten years ago.

They only teach what works. I know because I've applied it and my life has changed as a result.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the live training! Every Friday at Wealthy Affiliate there's a live, interactive video training sessions hosted by Jay.

Covering a wide range of topics and lasting 60-90 minutes each, you get to ask questions live and get answers from experienced experts who know what they're talking about.

There are also hundreds of video trianing sessions available for replay on any subject you can think of – these are worth the Wealthy Affiliate membership fee alone!

Round 4: Tools & Resources

wealthy affiliate vs affilorama tools and resources

In this round we're looking at the tools each training provider offers inside their members area.

If you need a certain tool or software to be able to practice what they're teaching you, do you have to find it externally or do they make it available?

Affilorama
  • AffiloTools – An analytics-style tool that you can use to measure how your website is doing in search engine results and social media.
  • Limited web hosting – for up to 15 sites up to a certain size. Unfortunately you have to buy your domain from elsewhere.
Wealthy Affiliate

There's tons of tools included within their membership, including:

  • The SiteRubix Web Builder with over 2,000 WordPress themes to choose from.
  • State of the art unlimited hosting for up to 50 sites.
  • SiteSSL – 256-bit encrypted connections favoured by search engines that keep your site secure.
  • SiteProtect – This spam blocker means there's no need for additonal plugins.
  • Daily website backups
  • Website Health Checker
  • Keyword research tool
  • Website Feedback
  • Tracking tools
  • SiteSpeed – As of April 2017 this will be included on every website. SiteSpeed dramatically increasing page loading times, giving a better user experience for website visitors and better Google rankings.

With Wealthy Affiliate there's no need for up-sells because you already have everything you need at your fingertips.

As you go through the training course you can build your websites, register domains, have them securely hosted, find keywords for content andget feedback from within Wealthy Affiliate itself. This is a real strength for Wealthy Affiliate.

Round 5: Community & Support

wealthy affiliate vs affilorama support and community

When you're learning something new it's really important that you can get support and help when you need it. However good the training might be, it's inevitable that at some point you're going to have questions or need a little help.

In round 5 we're looking at how active the community is and how easy it is to get support.

Affilorama

So you decide that you're gonna try this thing jump right in. And then you're there, in the member's area!

I remember when I joined Affilorama as a member and I just sat there looking at the screen (see below). There was no clear sign of anything happening at all. “Where are all the members?” I thought. A bit of an anticlimax to say the least!

affilorama homepage

I found a member's forum area but they didn't seem to be much activity at all. It just looked empty… You can see where someone asked a question and had to wait 3 or 4 days for a reply.

Whatever Affilorama was at some point, it's not that anymore. It's a ghost town, there's no one there. Okay I'm exagerrating, there were actually 6 members there (myself being one of them). But I mean there was no interaction, no discussions or conversations happening.

Some of the most recent comments and questions were from 5 or more years ago. It's a real shame.

affilorama community (or lack of)
wealthy affiliate vs affilorama community

Another strange thing I've noticed about Affilorama that shows just how dead the community is, is every time a beginners comes in and asks a question, no other member answers him. Not a single reply. Only after 3 days will a staff member answer.

Waiting 3 days for an answer? What's that all about? Apart from sticking red “this training is out of date” signs up and finally getting round to answering a member's question because there's no one else there, what do the 29 staff members do all day?

I don't mean to be harsh but there's no new cutting-edge innovations here, nothing happening at all. It just feels like the site reached it's peak 5 years ago and has since been abandoned.

affilorama help and support
Wealthy Affiliate
wealthy affiliate live chat

My first impression of Wealthy Affiliate was very different. Not only did I love the training courses, but honestly, I was also taken aback by the welcome I got.

I completed my profile by adding a profile pic and a short bio then I started notifications saying people were now following me and sending me welcome messages.

That same night I remember writing out my money goals and sharing them with the community and people replied right back with encouraging messages within minutes.

A couple of weeks later I made my first sale so I blogged about it (members can write blog posts to share their success stories as well as create training to share with the community) and I got a flood of responses from well-wishers congratulating me on passing my first major milestone.

Once you're inside Wealthy Affiliate, you'll see for yourself; the level of support and the helpfulness of the community is where this program really shines.

The members are very active, friendly and helpful which means you can get answers within seconds, not days or weeks. This is a lifeline when you're learning how to build a new online business!

There are many ways you get support within the members area: live chat, comments areas within each lesson, ask a more specific question within one of the 12 classrooms, leaving a message on someone's profile or sending a direct message to Kyle, Carson or any fellow Wealthy Affiliate member.

Final Knockout Round

wealthy affiliate vs affilorama which is better

We've had 4 rounds and there's been some pretty strong blows given out so you won't be surprised when I say it looks like Wealthy Affiliate comes out on top!

It was pretty much a complete K.O. for Affilorama to be honest, I was expecting Affilorama to be able to defend itself better than it did.

But in the end, Affilorama is outdated, confusing, littered with upsells and very expensive. The whole program just seems tired.

They have team of staff but I honestly don't know what they do all day. Very lack lustre. It could be great. It could be so much more than it is. I guess Mark Ling is too busy working on his other projects…

Wealthy Affiliate on the other hand is lower cost, transparent and gives a high value learning experience to aspring entrepreneurs.

Add the actionable training courses, innovative tools and state of the art web hosting servies with the amazing community support and interaction make Wealthy Affiliate a no-brainer.

Wealthy Affiliate vs. Affilorama video review
Affilorama VS. Wealthy Affiliate

If you are serious about building an online business the right way, my advice would be to try out the Wealthy Affiliate Starter membership for free and see for yourself how they can help you achieve your online income goals.

  1. I was looking into Afillorama just to get a comparison but you already did it. Nice information. I can say that though I am not a member of Affilorama I have done other marketing methods like drop shipping or auctions or even a retail website in which I needed inventory and had to deal with the shipping and returns.. Once I found Wealthy Affiliate I was instantly hooked. You have nailed it with what they offer.

I have been a premium member for 6 months now myself and have found the training to be spot on and accurate… It works and is totally affordable.. Nice to see a comparison like this to bring forward what a good program truly is.. I highly recommend anyone interested to join Wealthy Affiliate

    Thanks for the review

  2. Simon, great post comparing Affilorama and Wealthy Affiliate. I am a former member of Affilorama and a current member of Wealthy Affiliate. I also purchased the AffiloBlueprint upsell. While my Affilorama website was moderately successful, it was mostly due to my prior website building and promotion experience. Wealthy Affiliate is the real deal and continues to get better.

  3. Awesome review and awesome information. I was curious to see if anyone else had tried something else along with wealthy affiliate. Most of the reviews that I have seen from wealthy affiliate are really good ones and if they are bad they are usually because someone did not try hard enough to get what they needed to be. It is cool to see that you also recommend it. Thank you for the review!

  4. Hey Simon,

Before I started reading this, I thought affilorama would win but seems fate was not its side. I have heard good things about it but haven’t really tried it because of the upsells.

I don’t have that much money to be committing to the venture at the moment. But I never thought there was actually a cheaper option for affilorama, with more resources.

I think I am going to go for wealthy affiliate, it is much cheaper. A quick question though, how long will it take me to make the first dime off the business I will be building?

Looking forward to your answer as I prepare to join.

    • Honestly Dave I started with an open mind but Affilorama just couldn’t compete. As I say, it could if the people behind it put some energy into it but there’s no obvious signs of that happening.

If you’re looking to make money online (the non-spammy scammy kind) and you’re willing to learn some new things through the training and do some things you’ve never done before, Wealthy Affiliate is a good option. At the very least join as a free member, check out the getting started lessons and decide from there.

I joined Wealthy Affiliate and built my first website from scratch applying what I was learning and I made my first sale after 14 days. It wasn’t much but it grew from there. 12 months later I handed in my notice at work and waved goodbye to overbearing boss forever. I answer this question in-depth here: How long does it take to make money with Wealthy Affiliate?

Hope this helps, once you’re inside the member’s area, follow me (link to my WA profile) and I’ll follow you back. I’m more than happy to help in any way I can. A lot of people helped me when I first started and now I’m paying it forward. Here’s to your online success!

  5. Thank you for this review.

I have been researching affiliate marketing and wealthy affiliate came to my attention. I had not previously heard of affilorama so it is nice to see there are other programs out there.

By comparison, wealthy affiliate looks the best so I am going to sign up and check out the free membership.

    • That’s the best part Craig, you don’t even need to take my word for it. You could set up free accounts with both and then make your own mind up!

I wish you all the best as you start your online entrepreneurship journey! Let me know if there’s anything I can help with, I get kick out of seeing newbies start making their first sales.

Start with the training and you’ll see just how thorough the courses are and how friendly and helpful the Wealthy Affiliate online community is. I wish you every success!

  6. Hi Simon, really interesting comparison you have here. I was a premium memebr at Afiilorama once and I nearly bought the AffiloBlueprint but decided it was too expensive, I’m really glad I didn’t and I’m not a member there anymore. I joined Wealthy Affiliate a few months ago and I become a Premium member in the first 7 days to try Premium for $19 for the first month.

I also really liked how you compare by factors like founders, prices, lessons/trainings, etc and made it really easy to digest.

I got a question though in one of your images, what is the meaning of plr content?

After reading your comparison, I’ll think I’ll still stay with WA because it’s good enough for me. =)

    Reply
    • I really appreiate you sharing your experience, thank you. I have now heard of people who were Affilorama members a few years ago but today are no longer, it seems to be a pattern that’s emerging. (If they kept improving and provided a good service, people would stay with them!)

PLR content is just an article or post the author has given up any intellectual rights which means it’s available in the public sphere and anyone can copy and paste the article onto their website as is or edited slightly.

Up until very recently Affilorama was teaching their members to use these kinds of articles on their websites. Not only will this not help your website rank in Google, but it could destroy any chance you have as Google marks your site as having duplicate content.

This publically available, PLR content is a huge chunk of what they’re offering you in AffiloJetpack which is $997! I hope you can see now how crazy this is!

  7. Hi there

What an excellent review. I am new to the internet online business world and have been looking for a place to start from that won’t break my small wallet. You have given me some really good information, but I would like to ask, does the Wealthy Affiliate platform provide security for your websites or is that an extra cost? I will be running an online store where I will be taking payment from people and was wondering if they provide security for your website. I will check back for an answer, thanks.
I have pretty much made up my mind that I will be choosing the Wealthy Affiliate program, based on this comparison review. Thanks very much for all the information. I will be checking out the rest of your site as well. 🙂

    • Hi Carl, that’s good to hear.

As a free member of Wealthy Affiliate you can create up to 2 websites for free using the SiteRubix Website Builder. This inclused free subdomains (mywebsite.siterubix.com for example) and free hosting. You’ll have access to the SiteHealth, SiteFeedback, SiteEmail and 24/7 SiteSupport.

As a premium member you unltimited access to the ultimate platform for websites and hosting. This includes SiteEngage, SiteFeedback and SiteSupport. You can host up to 50 webites with unlimited hosting. Whether you purchase your domains through Wealthy Affiliate or already have your own domain and want to host with Wealthy Affiliate, you can.

In terms of security, unlike other web hosting providers out there who cram 1000’s onto one server using them to capacity, Wealthy Affiliate’s hosting runs a full redundancy serve which means they double up and host your website twice to make you always have the highest uptimes.

The SiteSpeed, SiteProtect, and SiteSSL platforms keep your websites operating faster than any other hosting company in the industry, keeping your site secure,

I think they ‘get’ the fact that your websites are business. For me, my blogging portfolio represents 100% of my my income so it’s reassuring to know these technical aspects are taken care of and I can concentrate my efforts on building my online business without worrying about the technical aspects.

I hope this answers your queston Carl, if you have any more questions please let me know.

Starting as a beginner you will need your own website so forget about getting a free one. I think Affilorama could have been just as big as Wealthy Affiliate, maybe one of their biggest rivals, if the owner just invested more time on it. What do you think?

    • Hi Kendrick, I think if Mark Ling continued to develop and improve the Affilorama platform you are absolutely right, they could have really given Wealthy Affiliate a run for their money.

Have you ever heard the saying “If it’s not growing it’s dying”? It’s so true. If you’re not constantly improving, growing, getter better than you’re not just plataeuing but you’re actually dying and that’s what I see with Affilorama.

Do you think Mark Ling and the Affilorama team feel proud right now of the service they’re offering? I don’t think so. But at the same time I don’t see the drive or motivation to want to give it a new lease of life.

I agree with you about having your own site and I always recommend to readers here on the blog as it gets you started in the right direction and Wealthy Affiliate’s SiteRubix website builder platform make starting your own website really easy.

  9. Thank you for this very informational review of Affilorama vs. Wealthy Affiliate. I remember Affilorama from a few years back, I did the free starter membership for a very short period of time, and saw some value but upsells turned me off. Wealthy Affiliate appears to be a much better value and a much much better resource. I really appreciate you sharing this review.

    • Hey, it’s good to hear your experience having been a member of both. Thanks for sharing.

I went on Affilorama recently and as I say, it was a ghost town. A few years back it was probably more active. I wonder what happened that just kept Affilorama stuck in a time warp. Why don’t they improve their training instead of putting warning banners on it? It would take less than a day.

This is what makes me think they’re more focused on their latest products and upsells and they’ve just left this behind. They’ll probably keep this ticking over as a nice little earner for as long as they can, until it dies a slow death.

My guess is the retention rate is terrible – that is people upgrade to a membership for like a month or two before cancelling.

I talked with Wealthy Affiliate who have been Prmeium members for 10 years or more. Myself 3 years. That also speaks volumes. People wouldn’t pay money on a monthly basis (it’s month to month) if they weren’t getting value from it and results.

  10. This is a very complete detailed comparison between wealthy affiliate and affillorama.

I did encounter affilorama on my journey one time and i must admit i did not enjoy much anything out it.

Its all about reshaping and reselling old stuffs no one really want and a lot of folks out will be pushed into doing the same.

The cost is not straight forward and there are so many up sells.

Thanks for reporting it again here and i hope folks chose wisely where they want to put their effort into work.

    • Thanks Richard, I just wanted to go through all the aspects of the different memberships so people know exactly what they’re getting into. The good thing about both Wealthy Affiliate though is that they can use the free Starter member as a taster or test drive and then make an informed decision from there which one they want to go for. I’ll include the links below.

  11. This is a very interesting review you have written. It is my first time to hear about Affilorama and its amazing to read such a detailed and well-researched contrast between the two. I’m very happy to confirm that Wealthy Affiliate has no comparison

This review has rubber stamped my faith and trust on Wealth Affiliate especially when it comes to training and support.

    Wonderful article!

    • Affilorama was very popular maybe 5 or 6 years ago but it’s an aging dinosaur now. Wealthy Affiliate on the other hand is updated regularly and is way more than an affiliate marketing training course, it’s a community of like-minded individuals all helping one another to succeed and it’s easy to ask questions, get answers, join in the conversation and even make friends.

I’m grateful for the day I found Wealthy Affiliate and I’m never leaving.

  12. Great page of content, although in my mind it really isn’t even a real comparison. WA is undoubtedly the best choice, for both the most up to date techniques/training, pricing and community support. I am glad I kept looking and found WA, I was actually pretty close to buying the $197 affiloblueprint, i.m sure it would have been fine but there is no way its worth the price when an option like WA is sitting on the table.

    • It’s sounds like you had anear miss there Lorenzo! The AffiloBlueprint is not worth the high price, not by a long shot. It sounds like you’re really happy with your experience so far with Wealthy Affiliate though. The truth is I’ve never found a program that even comes close. It’s the best affiliate marketing training course online and it just keep getting better all the time.

I’m glad you agree, thanks for sharing!

  13. Wow! What a great comparison of the two programs. I have been a Wealthy Affiliate premium member for 10 months. I am enjoying it thoroughly and moving along in my internet business. I have looked at Affilorama through a couple of reviews but I have never seen a comparison between the two programs. I enjoyed your rock ’em sock ’em comparison approach.I have thought about checking out Affilorama, despite loving Wealthy Affiliate, just to learn more. This article has helped me realize that I don’t need to do that. Thanks for the clear, exhaustive review.

    • Thank you I appreciate that. I wanted to be as thorough as possible to give people as much information as possible about the both programs. I’m glad you enjoyed it, I had fun writing it 🙂

The fact you’re making progress with you online business and seeing results is one of many Wealthy Affiliate success stories I read everyday. Wealthy Affiliate is the best place to start an online business and make money blogging for sure. It takes work but it’s worth it. As I like to say: do the work, live the life. And that’s what it’s all about.

All the best to you in your journey!

  14. Thank you for your review.

I am now also clear that Wealthy Affiliate is really the best platform. The service, the help and the knowledge that one gets here is simply unbeatable. I had mainly my doubts as to whether WA really is the right thing for me, but it was mainly because I did not have enough energy to work on my online business every day.
I was interested to read your review, and already alone that there are upsells on Affilorama, I find repulsive.

    All the best!

    • Hi Daniel,

Everything you need to make serious money online is available to you at your fingertips inside Wealthy Affiliate! It’s true though that it is only through taking massive action will you see your dreams become a reality. Keep pushing bro. The one who is willing to further than other people is the one that wins the prize.

We all need reminding why we started doing something sometimes. Maybe it’d be good if you printed out on online make money goals you made in the first lessons and put it somewhere you can see it as a reminder of why you’re doing this. Just an idea 🙂

Whenever I do reviews like this, Wealthy Affiliate has a clear advantage every time. I try and be as fair as I can but there are so many half-baked programs out there.

I don’t mean Affilorama is a scam because it isn’t, it’s just not that good. It could be if the owner and staff members really got behind it but they’re definitely in maintenance mode.

You made a good choice, stick with it, put the work in and you will see results! Every success to you.

  15. Thank you very much for this very comprehensive comparison of WA and Affilorama. I personally believe that WA has everything one could ask for when it comes to affiliate marketing. The WA premium membership price is indeed a very small price to pay in comparison with all the benefits that it offers. It always comes up with fresh and innovative ways to step up their game.

  16. Hi there,
I have just read your review on those two affiliate programs and I am reading through the lines when you are suggesting wealthy affiliate is the winner of this match.
I am fortunate that I have found WA eventually after going through a lot of other businesses. However, I did not come across Affilorama in my travels and from what I have observed myself and what you are saying, it looks like WA is by far and away a much better option.
Price wise it looks like a winner as well.
Thanks again for a great review

    • Hi Phil, Wealthy Affiliate outranks Affilorama on every possible level. There’s really no comparison. Man I feel for all those people who have paid nearly $1000 for a website you can make in 3 minutes with publically available articles copied and pasted into them! Wow.

Price wise Wealthy Affiliate is amazing at $49 a month, the yearly option takes the price down again to $29.60 a month. That’s just unheard of 🙂

I now declare Wealthy Affiliate the outright winner.

  17. Hi Simon,

This is a great review on Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama. I always wondered about Affilorama. I use to get emails from them all the time but they were way out of my price range. It looks like Wealthy Affiliate is definitely the way to go for me.

I like that Wealthy Affiliate has a free starter program for as long as you want and no credit card is required.

Thanks for sharing this great information.

    • Hi Mitch,

I’m signed up to Mark Ling’s email list too and he’s big on sellling through his email list, this is what he’s mainly known for. Can you imagine paying out monthly for Premium, AffiloBlueprint at $197 then again for AffiloJetpack at $997 and then getting an email from him trying to sell you something else? Unthinkable really.

You’re absolutely right Mitch, to create a free Starter membership with Wealthy Affiliate you just need your name and email – no credit card required.

      Here’s to your online success!

  18. Simon, you are spot on with your review on both of these heavy hitters. Actually, you can’t compare, Wealthy Affiliate blows Affilorama out of the water. I tried Affilorama, and just like you I left disappointed. I was on their free starter account. Though the website was nicely laid out, there’s too much out of date content. Then, WA has been a walk in the park. It’s got everything you need. Kyle and Carson really hit home with this one!!

    • Thaks Jonathan, I’m glad I’m not the only one who though Affilorama was a bit of a letdown. Honestly though, with their team of staff it wouldn’t take much to do a full audit of their training and update. It badly needs it.

I know Kyle and Carson try really hard to make it as easy as possible for people to succeed at affiliate marketing, beginners and seasoned marketers alike. I agree, the interface, website builders and training courses are really easy to navigate.

  19. I’m glad I chose Wealthy Affiliate over Affilorama after reading your detailed review. I considered both before choosing but Wealthy Affiliate seemed to offer me more at the time and happy with my progress so far. I would love to reach your heights further down the line. How long have you had your blogging portfolio running? Quite exceptional results I must say – well done.

For me, WA offer first class training and the way they have designed their platform around members where everyone helps each other succeed has been so beneficial for my circumstances as initially I was a newbie to marketing online.

Thanks to Wealthy Affiliate I have a mobile friendly and secure website as their training is up to date, due to ever evolving internet days this is crucial for download times and trust which is pivotal in gaining confidence with visitors.
Thanks for providing the pros and cons between each platform,
    Simon.

    • Thanks for sharing your Wealthy Affiliate experience Simon, it sounds like you’re not a newbie anymore! I think it’s clear from my review that Wealthy Affiliate definitely have the edge in all aspects, from the training to the web hosting to the community support.

The thing I love about Kyle and Carson is that they are very much involved in the day to day life of Wealthy Affiliate. They are constantly pushing to make things better for members, always improving and growing and members really benefit from that. In the 3 years I’ve been a member the platform has changed so much and I know the best is yet to come.

I started my first website based on church leadership and church growth as I was going through the Online Certification Course and I worked pretty solidly for 6 months in the evenings and weekends. After a year the website was earning enough for it to replace my full-time income. So I quit my UK call centre job in Leeds, England and moved to Thailand to live the dream as working as a missionary. This was my dream. Today you’ll find me working with children in Thai slums and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve experienced first hand the benefits of becoming a Wealthy Affiliate member. To say my life has changed is an understatement.

  20. I have personally tried Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama, guess what I am still subscribed yearly with Wealthy Affiliate and I think that speaks volume. By all means, Affilorama is great too, especially $1 for the first month, its basically free full access for the first month! However in terms of long term usage and value for money, my first choice is still Wealthy Affiliate!

    Reply
    • I agree, the great thing about both programs is that you can test drive it for free at first and see if it’s a good fit for you. The $1 for the first month’s Premium membership at Affilorama is worth it just so you can see what you get. You can start the training and see what results you get.

You’ve confirmed my instincts – if people have a choice between Affilorama or Wealthy Affiliate – they’ll choose Wealthy Affiliate any day of the week. Honestly I think the training and community support is unparallelled anyhere online. Thanks for sharing Leo, to your online success!

  21. This is actually really useful. I was looking for a comparison of WA and Affilorama and this really helps. I think the upsells are the one thing that is holding my back from purchasing Affilorama, and those upsells does cost quite a bit. Right now I’m just sticking with WA.

    Reply
    • Yes the upsells, my goodness! How many people have actually paid out for a $997 website full of copied content and are not sitting there waiting for website traffic that will never come? I already ranted in my comparison review so I’ll try and hold back for now. Just to say I think it’s unethical and dishonest.

It’s like buying a new car, paying for it then they say oh but if you want the car to move forward you’re going to have to pay extra for wheels. Then you pay for the wheels and they say oh but it’ll drive a lot easier and faster if you have tyres… and on and on it goes.

Just have one simple price and let people decide for themselves if they want it or not. I think you’re making a good decision by sticking with Wealthy Affiliate Dean. It’s getting better all the time and the training is top-notch.
