1) Starting Your First Blog

2) Write Useful Content

We've just touched on picking the right niche or topic for your website. When you're blogging, it's important to know the audience you're writing to.

The important thing to keep in mind when creating content is to make it as useful as possible. Create something that people will value or will even change their lives.

This way, you can make people like your blog and gain their trust – which is important, especially when you want to make money off your blog later on.

Established bloggers often have relevant advertisers approaching them offering to pay you to get exposure to your audience. There are also ad networks such as Google AdSense who act as the middleman to enable small publishers to run ads on their blogs.

b) Selling Products

Whatever your blog is about, you can sell products related to your blog, through your blog. Virtual products like eBooks, courses, videos, and audio can work just as well as physical products like handmade cards, jewellry and books.

c) Offer Your Services

Another way you can blog and make money online is by selling their own services in some way and using your blog as a platform to promote that.

Some offer life coaching, language tutoring, consulting, public speaking, freelancing and mentoring services. Some offer a wide variety of freelance services such as writing articles, web design, database design, book keeping, management, and more.

The secret is to highlight in your blog your key expertise to find potential clients for you.

d) Affiliate Marketing

For me, affiliate marketing is the number one way I make money with my blogs.

Whatever you choose to start a blog about, whatever your specialised area, there are affiliate programs out there (which are free to join) that offer products or services your readers will be interested in.

Depending on the affiliate program you're promoting, the commission could range from anywhere between 4% – 75%.

If a reader clicks the link and buys the product, you earn a commission on that specific sale. If you do this more often, you will get the hang of it and discover that there is more to it than simply posting a link and earning a commission.

Companies like Amazon, Nike, Ebay, LEGO, Apple, Samsung all have affiliate programs where you can get paid to recommend any of the millions of products and services they offer.

Once you become a master at buildign a website and drawing visitors to it, there's no limit to the amount of money you can earn as a blogger.
